Editorial
Editorial standards
These standards govern how CannIntel reports, sources, labels, and corrects its journalism. They are binding on every contributor.
Sourcing
- Primary sources are preferred. Statutes, regulatory filings, court records, earnings transcripts, peer-reviewed literature, and named human sources outrank press releases and aggregated coverage.
- Anonymous sources are used only when (a) the information is meaningful and verifiable, (b) the source has a credible reason for anonymity, and (c) an editor has independently confirmed the source's identity.
- Every clinical claim is reviewed by a licensed clinician before publication.
Fact-checking
- Every numeric claim must trace to a published source or our own reporting. The source is named in the body or linked from the article.
- Every direct quote is verified against a recording, transcript, or written statement.
- Every comparative or superlative claim ("largest," "first," "most") must be sourced.
Labels and disclosure
- Sponsored content is labeled "Sponsored" at the top of the article and in any preview link. Sponsored content never receives editorial endorsement.
- Affiliate links are disclosed at the top of the relevant article. Affiliate relationships do not influence editorial selection or rating.
- Reviewers disclose any material conflict of interest with the products they review.
Bylines and reviewers
- Every article carries a named byline. Group-authored stories carry every contributor's name.
- Medical and pharmacological articles carry a "Reviewed by" line with the name of the clinician who reviewed the medical claims.
Corrections
- When we publish an error, we correct it and append a dated correction notice to the article.
- Substantive corrections are listed publicly on our corrections page.
- Headlines that are corrected after publication retain the corrected wording with a note indicating the prior wording and the correction date.
Use of AI
- Generative AI tools may be used for research, transcription, summarization, and copy editing. AI does not write CannIntel articles.
- No AI-generated text is published under a human byline without human reporting, verification, and editorial review.
Independence
- Advertising, sponsorship, and affiliate relationships have no influence on editorial selection or coverage.
- Editorial staff do not hold financial positions in publicly traded cannabis companies they cover. Material disclosures are listed on author pages where relevant.
